Everything started in spring 2007.

Charly and Hubert recorded the first single of The approach Agent Of Love

followed by the first album Jetsam in 2008.

Jetsam contains of eight songs including Agent of Love.

At the end of the year 2008 Birgit joined The approach and in spring 2009 the second album About Life, Death & Between was released. It´s a LP with nine songs and the bonus track Angry for - a new version of the original song of the first album Jetsam.

This album was the initiation for the first live gig of The approach - the Open-Air Concert 2009 - followed by more in- and ourdoor concerts from time to time. 

New songs were written and produced by The approach and in April 2010 the third album FLYEYE was released. On this full concept album everything gets bolder and wilder. It´s packed with seven expressive songs showing the growth and creativ extension of the band. 

This album was also presented at an Open-Air Concert and other concerts in the summer time of 2010. One highlight of this year was the live gig at the Luftfahrt Museum Graz. You know, you don´t always have the chance to play on an aircraft :-) 

2011 - a new year a new album. In April The approach released album number four: Rebellious Riot This album is a collection of seven rocking songs with the invincible intention of "no one can hold us back".

In the end of the year The approach decided for the first time to remaster the record and assign a professional CD production. The album re-release took place in 2012.

In the summer of 2011 The approach played again the Open-Air Concert and recorded the show. 15 songs got on the live album: The approach - live in concert

In December 2011 the first music video - of the song Coming Home - went online on Youtube. Honestly, in August 2010 a video was already in progress for the song In The Storm but it was scrapped.

After re-releasing the Rebellious Riot album The approach did another music video in 2012 with the great support of friends. You can watch the video of the song Sal Paradise and others at our YouTube Channel The approach Official.

The music video was presented after a two member line-up of Charly and Birgit in an artistic combination of live performance and projected drawings from Peter Petrovic at Café Eva in Leibnitz. 

In the following years The approach played several gigs at mostly special locations and events. Charly continued to write new songs and The approach performed some of the new songs live but it took till 2023 to start the recording process for a new album.

Meanwhile, Charly recorded 2014 his first solo project Fantasy Ride through a Dream 

This record is quite different to all other The approach albums. The instrumental pieces invite the listener to a meditativ journey guided by puristic guitar melodies. The cover and CD is an aquarell painting and so every item is unique.

Good things take time - and so finally in 2024 The approach released the fifth album Drug Of Life

The album comes with nine powerful and deep-going songs. The booklet is a creation of special analouge photography - taken by Charly. The record is again finished in a high quality pressing. You can listen to the songs here

As described in the Review of 2024 the CDs arrived the day before the planned Open-Air Concert and so it legit turned out as an Album-Release Concert. One highligt of 2024 was at the end of summer, when The approach - again in a two member line-up of Charly and Birgit - performed on the island of Graz aka Murinsel.
